Activity Criteria: Why Weight, Height, and Health Restrictions Protect You
A transparent explanation of why certain activities have minimum heights, weight brackets, or heart health restrictions, and the biomechanics behind the rules.
Fair, Transparent Safety Boundaries
One of the most challenging moments for our activity marshals is politely informing a guest that they cannot ride the high-wire zipline or ascend a vertical climbing tower due to height, weight, or health restrictions. These rules are never personal or discriminatory; they are mathematically dictated by the structural load tolerances and biomechanical geometry of life-safety gear.
Publishing these criteria openly ensures that guests arrive with clear expectations and can plan their day around appropriate attractions.
The Engineering Behind Weight and Height Limits
Review the mathematical and physics reasons for specific limits:
- ·High-Canopy Zipline (Weight: Min 35 kg / Max 105 kg): Riders below 35 kg lack sufficient momentum to overcome cable friction and can stall midway over the orchard; riders over 105 kg generate excessive velocity that can overwhelm emergency deceleration springs.
- ·High Ropes (Height: Minimum 4 feet 6 inches / 137 cm): Obstacle cables, handrails, and overhead safety lifelines are fixed at distances requiring a minimum arm span to reach and transfer safety carabiners securely.
- ·Junior Ropes (Ages 5–10, Under 4 feet 6 inches): Designed with lower handrails and continuous fixed tracks requiring no manual carabiner transfers.
Medical and Health Disqualifications
Due to the intense physical strain and sudden gravity shifts of high-altitude courses, individuals with severe cardiovascular conditions, unmanaged hypertension, advanced pregnancy, recent spinal surgery, or severe vertigo are strictly prohibited from high-thrill activities for their personal well-being.
